What should I do about my ex?

my ex and I dated for a few months and broke up due to us arguing and me accusing him of talking to other girls although he wasnt cheating on me. We broke up in august and went through the i hate you state and everything. Its hard because im 1.5 hours away in college..and he is coming here next fall for sure. So we've decided to take baby steps and we've started building a friendship. we both agreed not to jump into a relationship together. he told me the other day that he does not want sex from me but a relationship he wants a serious one when we can be together and see each other because he does still love me and think of me and miss me alot. He has started texting me on a day to day basis. I really care about him..what do i do?
